Why solar?

Because solar is:

  • The sun is accessible to all!
  • 9000 times more energy potential than we consume.
  • 1000 times our consumption is practically accessible.
  • Requires simple materials.
  • Can supply high heat at low cost.
  • Scalable and sustainable.
  • Safer and cheaper than nuclear power and proliferation.
  • 85% of energy consumed domestically and in industry is in the form of heat!

What is solar fire?

Solar Fire is the use of direct solar thermal energy to replace conventional fires of wood and coal at the domestic, agricultural and industrial level.
The Sun Steam or the Sun Oven have been developed in Open Source for agricultural and small industrial levels. They can replace wood and charcoal. You can do them yourself, buy them or start to produce them.

  • Simple enough to build and maintain locally.
  • As powerful and hot as conventional fires.
  • Take equal or less labour than conventional fire.

Why is it good?

By pillaging naturally concentrated solar energy in wood, rivers and fossil fuels we are destroying the earth.

By going to the solar source we can reduce ecological impact and increase energy access and autonomy.

Who can use solar fire?

The sun shines almost everywhere so essentially everyone can use it.

The light that falls in and around most peoples dwellings can usually power all of their needs and activities.

Where can solar be used?

  • Solar energy can be used locally.
  • Local solar energy increases independence and resilience and reduces transportation needs.
  • Solar concentrators are clean and safe.
