In early November 2011 I visited Eerik and Eva near Limoges central France. The purpose of my visit was to get to know them, get to know more about the solar concentrators, help with a post fund-raising event and help with plans for the future.
During my stay we talked about possible business models and open-source licenses for the concentrators and the different construction methods. Those being the DIY method, the jig method and the mass production method. I also helped with some CAD animation of a solar concentrator setup with a SFV32 solar concentrator powering an absorption fridge, a cold room and a greenhouse (see the film here).
We spent a couple of days visiting an Eco-Training Center that trains people how to build using Eco-friendly methods. Please see this video of the Ecocentre du Perigord. Speaking with Eerik they became very interested in the solar concentrators and are interested in trying to organize some training sessions on how to build the Solar Fire concentrators. I’m very much looking forward to learning more about solar concentration too. If you would like to get involved, find out more and help, please get in touch.
